Connector System Suits High-Vibration Environments

The Industrial Mini I/O connector system from Tyco Electronics is suitable for controllers, PLCs, motion control and robotics in the industrial automation market. The connector system features two points of contact to maintain performance and increase reliability in high-vibration environments. The compact connector, approximately one-fourth the size of a traditional RJ-45 plug, includes a latching system designed to protect the plug from pull-out during high vibration or collision.

'Our new product meets the stringent demands of industrial devices,' said James Gula, product manager, Tyco Electronics. 'The rigid latching system and multiple contact points reduce the risk of information loss in high-vibration environments. 'The connector system is an excellent replacement for existing RJ-45 technology, occupying less space while offering increased functionality,' he added. The polarised, wire-to-board interface features two keying options to prevent mis-mating and consists of eight individual circuits to accommodate I/O signals.

Electrical specifications include a current rating of 0.5A and a 30V rating on 0.635mm centreline spacing. The connector's operating temperature ranges from -40 to +70C with a durability of 1,500 cycles. Product offering includes SMT and through-hole configurations. The product meets Cat5e requirements when used in Ethernet applications.
