Connectors Suit Medical And Industrial Sectors
Quadrant has launched a range of uTCA modular power connectors from FCT for applications in telecommunications, medical and industrial markets. The range features a flat and robust design that enables the mating and unmating of cards under pressure and is available in a single- and dual-port format in 9W4, 7W2 and 5W5 way versions. UTCA (Micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) is a standard introduced by PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) to regulate the construction of sub-assembly mounting and complete system units and describes the requirements when AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Cards) are directly connected to a backplane.
The specification also regulates the general requirements and attributes of uTCA systems with regard to their mechanics, electronics and internal management. The uTCA standard was developed as a high-speed system platform to meet the demands of both the telecommunications and industrial sectors. Versions specifically designed for use in telecommunication are mounted directly on the backplane, a method that reduces the number of components, electronics and accessories required, simplifies maintenance and provides high data rates.
