DFA Reveals Automation And Motion Exhibitors

Event organiser DFA Media has announced that a number of UK automation and motion engineering companies have booked stands at the 2010 Drives and Controls Show. The number of exhibitors that have booked 'space-only' showcase stands at the show, which is scheduled to take place on 8-10 June at the NEC in Birmingham, is already at least 50 per cent up on the total number at the previous show in 2008, according to the event organiser. Many returning exhibitors - including Danfoss, Leuze Electronic, Phoenix Contact, Rockwell Automation and Sew Eurodrive - have booked larger stands than at the 2008 event.

Further companies attending the show include Alldrives, Kroy, Micro-Epsilon and Siti/Alphadrive. Other returning exhibitors include Baldor, HMS Industrial Networks, Motovario, Schmersal, SICK, Synatel, Trio Motion Control and SS White. Austrian automation supplier B and R will be returning to the show with a 112m2 stand. All sectors of the industry will be represented at the exhibition, including: automation (with companies such as Horner, ILME, Lamonde and Schneider Electric); drives (Gefran and Lenze); motors (Lafert, Marelli, Motor Technology and WEG); safety (Pilz, Schmersal and Steute); mechanical and actuation (Centa, CRD Devices, Habasit Rossi, Linak, Moore International, Motovario, Olsen Engineering, Reliance Precision and Wittenstein); and electrical (Block, HVR and Rittal).

Other technologies represented at the show will include: communications (Harting and HMS); sensors and measurement (Heidenhain, Micro-Epsilon and Red Lion); and software (Aceri, Auctotec, Don Tyne and Thinking Space). Many of the sector's companies will take part in the show via their distributors and partners. For example, Siemens and Schaeffler will be represented on the HMK Automation and Drives stand.

Items from ABB's portfolio will be found on Quantum Controls' stand, while products from German automation supplier Beckhoff will be demonstrated on the stand of its UK distributor, Hayes Controls. At the 2008 Drives and Controls Show, several Chinese exhibitors had stands for the first time. There will be another Chinese delegation at the 2010 event, with at least twice as many exhibitors, according to DFA Media. A free industry-focused seminar programme, run across the three days of the show, will include a variety of presentations ranging from energy management and plant safety to manual handling, Ethernet communications and gearbox maintenance.

The seminar programme will cover a range of subjects relating to today's multi-tasking engineers. These seminars will also give delegates the opportunity to pick up best-practice tips and advice from a variety of speakers, representing a cross section of the engineering and manufacturing sector. Issues such as marketing strategy, and even an insight into the financial world to help visitors understand the concept of lending criteria and what banks are looking for in manufacturers, will also be presented.
