Digestion Tanks For Food Waste Treatment Facility

Kirk Environmental is providing five 4,500m concrete digestion tanks for Oxfordshire country council for use in a large-scale, purpose-built anaerobic digestion (AD) facility. Kirk Environmental was appointed by Agrivert to supply the tanks, which form part of the 30,000-tonne food waste treatment centre at Cassington. The centre is the inaugural stage of the council's plans to generate electricity for 5,000 homes.

Working in close partnership with Agrivert and Biogas-Weser-Ems, Kirk Environmental has already helped reduce the initial design and procurement process so that a site start could be made within only a few weeks of the contract award. Key to the plant's operation, the Kirk Environmental tanks, including construction of all foundations, leakage protection and tank walls are due to be complete in a fast-track operation of 16 weeks, with the treatment centre set to start receiving waste as early as September 2010.
