Heason Offers Thomson Elektrak Pro Actuators

Thomson Elektrak Pro series push-rod style linear actuators, which meet the requirements for agriculture, construction, medical, plus H and V applications, are now available from Heason Technology. Characterised by its extreme durability, toughness and compactness, the DC motor-driven Electrak Pro is available in Acme lead-screw or ballscrew versions with a broad range of options for simple open loop load actuation or sophisticated closed loop control. The CE certified Electrak Pro series is supplied in choice of 12 or 24V DC input as standard or optional 36V DC, allowing flexibility for battery or DC power supply operation.

The actuator's maximum stroke length is 300mm with a dynamic load rating of 2,000N for the ballscrew version and 750N for the lead-screw option. The Electrak Pro offers no-load speeds to 50mm/s and a 25 per cent full load duty cycle. An attractive 'clam shell' cast-aluminium housing with a stainless-steel extension shaft and support tube combine for a smart design. The Electrak Pro is rated for IP66 operation with an optional IP67 version for liquid immersion protection. The housing and its integral electrical connector are fully gasket sealed and together with an operating temperature range of -40C to +85C, the actuator is well suited for use in hostile indoor and outdoor environments where washdown and spray is frequent.

The compact size of the actuator allows installation in restricted spaces with an unextended length of around 250mm for the lead-screw version. As standard, electronic limit switches are fitted for over-travel protection and a load holding brake is included for the ballscew version. Further standard options include an electronic load monitor that checks critical parameters and shuts down the actuator if they are exceeded. The front and rear clevis mounting is straightforward for installation and removal, and in the event of power failure, an integral manual override can be accessed with a 5mm Allen key for fast hand-operated position adjustment. To suit the widest range of applications, the Electrak Pro series is available with a number of options and accessories.

These include position feedback from a choice of optical encoder or a potentiometer that can also be used as a part of a signal follower option that allows the actuator to track position from a customer-provided analogue input. A programmable limit switch option is available to modify the usable stroke length via a hand-held pendant, which may be removed after set-up to prevent unauthorised changes. In addition, a PWM speed control option interfaces load monitoring system with a customer supplied PWM input for variable speed control.

The actuator can also be supplied in a protective black paint finish if required. As a Premier Partner distributor for Thomson, Heason Technology can also supply fully customised versions of the Electrak Pro, together with controls as complete system solutions.
