Hydraulic Torque Wrenches For Wind-Energy Industry

Tentec has brought out three series of hydraulic and pneumatic torque wrenches suitable for torque applications throughout the wind-energy industry. The SD, CD and PN series are robust, easy to use and accurate. The SD series comprises square-drive conventional hydraulic torque wrenches. With torque output ranging from 1722Nm (1270ft/lbs) to an impressive 78625Nm (580,000ft/lbs), the one-piece body housing also offers rigidity, strength and robustness in a lightweight form.

The SD series features full 360 x 360 degree swivel connections and a pressure/torque chart that is laser etched onto the nose of the tool. For awkward restricted bolts, the low profile, direct-drive CD-series of hydraulic torque wrenches are the tools of choice. Design engineers have achieved the ultra-slim profile of the 'same width' cassette and cylinder assembly by incorporating a unique non-circular drive piston. The CD series interchangeable cassettes allow for a rapid and easy swap-out from one hex size to another. The cassette is attached to the cylinder by means of a single high-strength locking pin, so no special tools are required for change out.

The use of interchangeable cassettes makes the CD series a versatile wrench, with one cylinder being able to torque many different-sized hexagon nuts. Both cylinder and cassette are manufactured from high grade, high-strength aircraft alloy, giving the CD series unparalleled reliability. The PN series of pneumatic torque wrenches completes the new range of tools from Tentec. The PN series provides continuous and repeatable torque with an accuracy of +/- five per cent. Unlike previous pneumatic torque wrenches, the PN series has the fastest speed when it counts, which is during the actual torque stage and not during the free nut run-down stage.

Common in all PN series wrenches is a new gear technology that creates greater durability, lower operational temperatures and increased efficiency. The PN series offers a torque output from 162Nm (120ft/lbs) to 8134Nm (6,000ft/lbs) and rotational speeds of up to 45rpm. Tentec offers suitable and compatible electric and air-driven pump units to power the new torque ranges. Tentec also supplies a free bolt-tightening software package that integrates with both its torque and tension products.
