Isostation Suits Modern Scientific Investigations

AT the CLEO/QELS exhibition, Newport will launch the Vision Isostation vibration-isolation workstation, which has been designed for modern scientific and biological investigations. The exhibition will take place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California, on 18-20 May 2010. Designed to improve ease of installation, setup and laboratory-space utilisation, the workstation is available with platform sizes from 24 x 24in up to 36 x 72in.

The Vision Isostation will be available in two load capacities - 500lb gross and 1,300lb gross - delivered by Newport's I-125 and I-325 Series pneumatic isolators. Both versions reduce transmitted vertical and horizontal vibrations by 85 per cent or more after 5Hz and by more than 95 per cent after 10Hz. The workstation features a platform interface that acts as a docking surface, an accessory mount and a restraint to keep the breadboard on top of the frame. This same interface is used to couple multiple Newport accessories or allow users to connect their own home-built accessories.

The interface also features float-height indicators and frame-bubble levels. For added safety and convenience, these features combine with integrated leveling feet and casters, which are standard on all versions. The Vision Overhead Shelf system has height and location adjustment, optional electrical outlets and hanging shelves. The shelf also features a 200lb load capacity and front and rear raised edges to protect instrumentation. Vision Side Shelves and Worktables are available improve space utilisation and organisation. These adjustable side shelves are suitable for smaller instruments and accessories, including fluidics, probe storage or optics.

The side worktables provide workspace for sample preparation, component assembly or reference materials that do not require an isolated surface. Both of these accessories can be used in conjunction with the overhead shelf to maximise accessory storage and organisation. A new desktop computer shelf, articulated keyboard shelf, flat-panel monitor mount and joystick shelves help to maximise organisation and the overall size of the platform. With these accessories, users may opt for a 30 x 36in platform instead of the previously required 36 x 48in workstation.

Newport's recently released ACWS air compressor is suitable for use with the Vision Isostation. Compact and ultra quiet, it offers workstation users a fast-filling air supply without the need for large capacities delivered by traditional air compressors.
