Lockable Wing Knob Suits Offshore Situations

EMKA has introduced a 1/4 turn IP65 wing knob with padlocking facility, which is likely to suit external, offshore and washdown situations where the added security of one or two padlocks is required. Design of the U429-01PH enables use of a variety of padlock styles with 4.5 to 7.5mm-diameter shackle and 7.5 to 10mm shackle, or both. The U429-01PH is manufactured in AISI 316 stainless steel for strength and corrosion resistance, and fits the standard EMKA panel cutout.

It is compatible with EMKA's range of stainless-steel cams, so can be easily specified into existing designs or retrofitted.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
