SL22 Power Thermistors Meet CSA And UL Standards

Ametherm is offering the SL22 range of CSA- and UL-approved power thermistors, which allow between 800 and 1500W in the 2-20A range. Ametherm has experienced a significant increase in demand for its SL22s in national and international markets.

Since agency approvals involve extensive testing and processing, there are only a few inrush current-limiting manufacturers that offer them. At the same time, safety standards are becoming more universal, making agency recognition more important when manufacturing electronic components and devices.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
