Spring Pin Connectors Are Surface Mountable

Mill-Max introduces the 810 series horizontal SMT spring-loaded connectors for applications including recharging modules, grounding points, test points and board edge-to-edge interfaces. These durable spring pins are designed to provide a one million cycle life minimum and are suitable for low-profile spring interconnections parallel to the board surface. Rated at 2A continuous (3A peak), the pins are plated 20 micro-inches gold over nickel on the piston and base, with 10 micro-inch gold-over-nickel plating on the beryllium-copper internal spring.

The 0.045in (1.14mm) mid-stroke allows for 0.025in (0.64mm) more travel than most standard-series spring pins, yet the overall length when compressed to mid-stroke is a compact 0.252in (6.4mm.). The pins are mounted on 0.1in (2.54mm) pitch in high-temperature thermoplastic insulators - suitable for all typical reflow soldering processes. These horizontal surface-mount spring pin connectors are available in up to 10 positions.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
