TPU Ggrade Used In Agricultural Hose Development

Irogran - a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) from Huntsman - has been used by hose producer Papurex to develop Agrarpur, a pneumatic tubing system for the agricultural sector. Based on Irogran - a proprietary TPU grade from Huntsman - Agrarpur hoses are designed to carry compressed air to power specialist harvesting and pruning equipment. These machines include vibrating rakes and pneumatically powered shears, secateurs and chain saws.

Thanks to Irogran, Agrarpur hoses are claimed to be up to 15 per cent stronger under pressure than conventional polyurethane hoses. They can tolerate high-pressure levels of more than 40 bar and have a standard working limit of 16 bar, meaning they are less likely to burst and have a much longer lifecycle. Irogran also makes it possible for Papurex to make hoses that are up to 10 per cent longer, enabling farmers to harvest much larger areas at any one time.

Irogran is a range of robust, plasticiser-free TPUs. It provides Agrarpur with all the attributes commonly associated with polyurethane, for example, high elongation, abrasion and UV resistance; intrinsic flexibility; plus it also offers benefits including good physical recovery and good temperature performance, even under extremely hot conditions.
