VPO Units Reduce Consumption In Healthcare Sector

Powerperfector's Voltage Power Optimisation (VPO) technology is being used to alleviate financial, legislative and environmental pressures for public healthcare organisations. Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex, is being supplied with a large Powerperfector Plus unit (1,500kVA) to reduce electricity consumption by nine per cent.

The unit responds to the incoming supply voltage to bring it to its optimum and is anticipated to save over 300,000kWhs of electricity and GBP45,000 a year. It is also hoped to reduce CO2 by 180 tonnes a year, NOx by 380kg a year and PM10 by 11kg a year. Ambulance, primary-care, mental-health and acute sites are also benefiting from the technology - Julian Hospital of Norfolk and Waveney NHS Mental Health Trust is achieving 16.8 per cent savings and Carlton Court Hospital of Gloucester NHS Trust is achieving a minimum of eight per cent savings.
