Flir Launches High-Resolution Infrared Camera

Flir Systems has introduced the Flir A615, a 640 x 480 focal-plane-array, uncooled infrared camera suitable for dynamic vision applications and for high-end automated inspection and process control. The camera is fully compliant with both Genicam and GigE Vision protocols. This high-resolution, high-frame-rate camera is instantly ready for quick network installation, enabling the user to take advantage of plug and play with machine vision software from National Instruments, Cognex, Matrox, MVTec and Stemmer Imaging, for example.

The Flir A615 can provide accurate temperature measurement with high-quality, high-speed imaging. Typical application examples include automated part production and assembly, steel mill operations, food processing, product packaging, electronics production, non-destructive testing and car manufacturing. The camera enables the manufacturer to validate and increase product quality and throughput, minimise waste and improve profitability. It can also enhance working safety as an effective early-warning system for fire/hotspots.

The compact Flir A615 comes complete with built-in Gigabit Ethernet. The 640 x 480 detector provides greater resolution and detail; the focal plane array provides more than 300,000 measurement points. Its ability to capture fine image detail and temperature differences is also enhanced by its sensitivity of less than 50mK. The high radiometric video frame rate of 50Hz on the Flir A615 can be enhanced by the windowing function. This function allows the camera's processing engine to reduce the window size to offer even greater processing speeds.

At 640 x 240, 100Hz can be achieved; at 640 x 120, 200Hz can be achieved. Compliance with GigE Vision and Genicam standards allows the Flir A615 to be integrated with a variety of similarly compliant equipment and is supported by a choice of third-party software. Trigger and synchronisation capabilities enable it to control, or be controlled by, a host of other types of equipment. When used with wireless and fibre-optic line adaptors, the camera can be used almost anywhere, including over long distances. The Flir A615 is supplied as standard with a 25deg lens.
