Kistler Produces Non-Contact Torque Sensors

Kistler Instruments has developed a range of torque sensors aimed specifically at manufacturing, production and quality assurance applications. The Type 4520A torque sensor costs about the same as slip-ring types, typically less than GBP1,500. It uses a non-contact signal transmission to eliminate wear, making the sensor robust and maintenance free, even in continuous use.

Ten models are available with rated torque from 1Nm to 1,000Nm, each with class 0.5 accuracy at speeds up to 10,000rpm. Output is the standard +/-10V plus a speed signal of 60 pulses/rev and a remotely switchable 100 per cent test function. The Kistler torque sensor range is suitable for static and dynamic torque measurement in production, quality control and research and development applications.
