Adhesive Meets Catheter Assembly Challenges

Intertronics is to launch an adhesive specially formulated for the assembly of medical devices - including, for example, catheters - at Medtec on 6-7 April 2011 at the NEC in Birmingham. The company will showcase the MD Medical Device Adhesive from sales partner Dymax. The product is a tack-free, LED-curable adhesive formulated for fast, on-demand cure with a suitable UVA spot-curing lamp. The adhesive is designed for rapid bonding of a variety of plastics typically used in the manufacture of catheters - substrates such as PC, PU, ABS, and PVC.

210-CTH is moisture resistant, cures tack free with light in less than 0.4sec, and is suitable for Y-connector assembly, connector-to-tube bonding, and balloon bonding. The adhesive is said to offer a reliable and cost-saving assembly solution for catheter manufacturers. It is ISO 10993 approved and formulated to meet the assembly challenges associated with the latest catheter materials.

It is solvent free and offers good adhesion to a range of substrates. Intertronics added that the product also offers a high degree of flexibility and ultra-fast cure speeds for consistent, low-stress catheter assembly, and is compatible with gamma, EtO, and E-Beam sterilisation.
