Adhesives for Disposable Medical Devices on Show

At Medtech, 6-7 April at the NEC, Intertronics will display to medical manufacturers its UV, cyanoacrylate and epoxy adhesives, as well as its UV-curing, dispensing, application and mixing equipment. Of particular note will be displays of the Thinky mixing range, a Fisnar 4200 benchtop dispensing robot and a Dymax LED Prime UVA lamp demonstration curing ISO 10993 adhesives. The Intertronics adhesives range at Medtech will feature ISO-10993 and USP-Class VI types for the assembly of disposable medical devices, including bonding plastics, metal, ceramics, glass and other standard substrates used in the industry.

These will include UV-curing and cyanoacrylate adhesives from Dymax, as well as epoxy adhesives from Opti-tec. UV- and visible-light-curing equipment from Intertronics covers spot lamps, flood clamps and UV conveyors for use in medical device manufacture, including low-temperature, long-life LED UV-curing lamps, with matching process-control instruments and radiometers. Dispensing and application will be fully addressed, from manual to fully automated robotic systems compatible with adhesives, coatings, inks, fluids and so on, as well as appropriate dispensing valves and consumables such as nozzles, wipes and so on.

According to Intertronics, it is recognised that for high-performance medical devices, two and multi-part materials need consistent mixing and metering. Thinky planetary mixers to be shown on the Intertronics stand can mix, dispense, degas and vacuum mix in from seconds to minutes using either sealed or lidless containers such as a jar, beaker, syringe tube, cartridge or in disposable cups for particularly difficult materials.
