Brewery Selects Chronos BTH in-Process Weigher

Chronos BTH has worked with family brewery Joseph Holt to update its malt intake weighing system, replacing an old mechanical scale with an Atex-compliant Chrono-Bulk APW in-process weigher. With access to the malt weighing room being severely restricted, the Chronos BTH engineers designed new infeed and discharge chutes that could be manoeuvred into the existing space. Similar restrictions applied to the APW weigher, which was originally conceived for restricted-space applications such as this.

The old mechanical scale was dismantled in situ and the individual parts were moved out of the malt weighing room. Following the reconfiguration of the infeed and discharge chute work, the APW weigher was moved into position and installed. The Chronos-Weigh PC456 weighing controller was mounted remotely from the weigher on the wall of the malt weighing room, enabling compliance with the required Atex zoning requirements.
