Circular Connectors for Monitoring Equipment

Aerco has announced that it is stocking a range of Binder M16 circular connectors for use in applications in monitoring, measuring and logging equipment and temperature and pressure sensors. The Binder M16 circular connectors are available in formats ranging from two to 24 contacts, catering for cable dimensions from 3mm to 10mm, and versions with environmental protection ranging from IP40 to IP67.

The Binder range can be utilised in factory, automation and data processing equipment, as well as many types of handheld devices. Solder and dip-solder contacts are available throughout the range and screw-clamp versions are said to allow fast and simple assembly in the field using an Allen key. Current ratings are from 1-7A.

Binder M16 connectors are supplied for both front and rear chassis mount and straight and 90deg versions are available, as are angled versions adjustable to four positions to provide a high degree of interconnect flexibility. Versions with metal shells, which ensure 360deg electrical protection, and cost-effective plastic versions are available. Over-moulded connectors are provided with customer-specified cable lengths.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
