Gas Mixers Offer Integrated Moisture Measurement

Witt has introduced gas mixers that offer integrated moisture measurement, ensuring high-quality gas mixture in medicine, pharmacy and biotechnology processes. Andreas Heyer, senior product manager, said: 'Moisture in gases can have a negative effect on the manufacturing process, especially when heat-treating metals. 'When heat-treating metals, specially composed atmospheres are often used to ensure perfect and consistent processes.

'If the moisture level in the furnace is too high, it can have a negative effect on the manufacturing process,' he added. Residual moisture often comes from the gases used. The Witt solution continuously monitors the moisture content of the gas mixture as it is fed into the process. When a certain configurable limit of moisture is exceeded, an alarm can be triggered. The solution features a ceramic metal oxide sensor that detects the moisture of the gas from the dew point.

Compared with other sensor systems, this method offers advantages including very fast and precise measurements, lower sensitivity to the ambient temperature, very low errors of measurement (+/-2C) and a large measuring range from -110C to +20C. The closed control loop of the gas mixers ensures that the required gas mixture always has a very precise composition. In addition to the integrated solution, Witt also offers separate moisture measurement devices.
