Iwave Ports Windows Embedded on Freescale SOM

Bangalore-based embedded system design house Iwave Systems Technology has ported the latest release of Windows Embedded Compact 7 on its Freescale i.MX51 system-on-module (SOM) device. It provides all the latest features such as Silverlight 3.0, Connect and Consume Media, MPEG-4 HD, MTP, Multi-Touch, Expression Blend, Airsync and Adobe Flash 10.1. Iwave's path breaking design capability has brought the SOM board at a size of 70 x 70mm, which is one of the specifications of international standard Q7.

The low-power, small-footprint SOM has been designed to cater for industrial automation, automotive, medical, media and entertainment applications. The off-the-shelf SOM framework along with Windows Compact Embedded 7 is claimed to reduce the product development lifecycle for ODM/OEMs by 60 per cent. According to the company, application-specific input/output interfaces and communication modules such as Wi-Fi and GSM/GPRS can be added to the SOM.
