KOMERI Research Centre Selects Unisim Software

Honeywell has been selected by the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI) to implement the Unisim simulation software at its testing and certification centre being built in Geoje, Korea. KOMERI specialises in the development and certification of marine and offshore equipment. The centre will be equipped to drive the technological development of floating production, storage and offloading units for liquefied natural gas (LNG-FPSO) in the country.

The Unisim software from Honeywell will provide a series of unified simulation solutions to improve performance throughout the lifecycle of the centre, allowing KOMERI to create the virtual environments necessary to support LNG-FPSO training and education services required by Korea's shipbuilding and offshore companies. Tae-Hyoung Kim, head of the KOMERI testing and certification centre, said: 'KOMERI needs to build these virtual environments to help our country's top shipbuilders and leading companies in heavy industries strengthen their positions for LNG-FPSO projects around the world.

'By using Multi-Purpose Dynamic Simulator (MPDS) technologies, which is based on Honeywell's equipment, software and services, these companies will be able to make use of technologies, which will help them develop better plant designs, and which will in turn improve their operations,' Kim added. Whether for simulation of on-line or off-line process unit design and optimisation applications, Honeywell said Unisim has the capabilities to help customers realise benefits across the lifecycle of their facilities. Shipbuilding and offshore companies can capture and share process knowledge, improve profitability and maximise the return on their simulation investments.
