Lissmac Machine Solves Deburring Problem

Bristol company City Engineering has installed a Lissmac machine supplied by Birmingham specialist Surface Technology Products to solve the problem of deburring. This machine will, in one pass of the laser cut blank, remove needles (or other burrs from punching or guillotines) and then polish all edges, including holes and cut-outs on one or both sides. If the blank is protected with polycoating, this will be entirely unaffected by the process, as long as laser-quality coating is used.

The unprotected side will have a fine polished finish. The result will be a blank that is deburred on one or both sides as required. The process can be controlled so that appropriate degrees of finish are achievable. Being a mechanical process, all items will come out with a consistent high-quality finish that will enhance products. It will also carry out the process in the fraction of the time, with resultant savings in cost and improved lead times. The Lissmac deburring centre supplied to City Engineering is the first of a new design with improved features.
