Newport Expands Range of Aluminium Breadboards

Newport has expanded its range of low-cost aluminium breadboards and accessories for basic photonic research and OEM optical assemblies. The SA2 Series of solid aluminium breadboards now includes more diverse sizes and vertical bracket accessories to provide a stable yet lightweight platform for optical components and subassemblies. The new sizes include 6 x 24in (15 x 61cm), 6 x 36in (15 x 91cm), 12 x 36in (30 x 91cm) and 24 x 36in (61 x 91cm), offering more flexibility for optical experiments.

Features include a standard grid of tapped holes that extends to within 0.5in of the plate edges, providing more mounting surface than similar products. The SA2 Series also features in-grid counter-bored holes and deep-edge chamfers that make lifting, aligning and integrating the SA2 onto standard optical tables much easier than with competing models. The new SA2-BRKT Series vertical brackets are offered in three sizes to accommodate a variety of needs. The smallest bracket measures 6in in height and is recommended for 6in- and 8in-tall SA2 plates.

The mid-range bracket measures 12in in height and is suitable for 12in SA2 plates. Newport's largest size measures 18in and is said to be perfect for the vertical orientation of SA2 plates up to 36in tall. The SA2 Series is offered in the most popular standard sizes; custom sizes and shapes are also available upon request. The Imperial standard models feature 1/4-20 tapped holes on a 1in grid and metric models feature M6 tapped holes on a 25mm grid. Both versions are deep black anodised to minimise surface reflections; other surface finishes are available on request.
