Omega Releases Corrosion-Resistant Loadcells

Omega has introduced a range of shear beam loadcells for wash-down applications. This new range is claimed to overcome the disadvantages of using lower-spec bending beam models.

The new loadcells have a load range of 250kgf to 9 tonnes, a high side load rejection of 500:1 and a faster return to zero after load removal. In addition, they have a higher tolerance of dynamic forces and vibration. Each device is supplied with a free traceable calibration certificate. They are corrosion resistant and have an IP67 rating.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
