Processing Event Showcases Camera and Controller

At Interpack 2011, Leuze Electronic will introduce its LSIS 462i smart camera, which combines vision analysis and 2D code reading, as well as its MSI 200 modular safety controller. The LSIS 462i smart camera allows 99 2D Data Matrix codes or barcodes to be read on each image, at a speed of 54ms exposure. It has BLOB analysis for presence, completeness, position and orientation checks.

The camera has motor-driven focus and eight configurable I/O and RS232 - M12 connections. Inbuilt features include homogeneous illumination and a configuration web server. It is protected by robust IP65/67 metal die-cast housing and is available in a choice of glass or plastic lens versions. The LSIS 412 has only BLOB analysis for presence, completeness, position and orientation, while the LSIS 422 is targeted at barcode and 2D code reading. Leuze Electronic's MSI 100 and MSI 200 programmable safety controllers are programmed to be expandable for any application.

The MSI 100 has 20 safe inputs (SIL3, PLe): Light curtains, E-STOP buttons, two-hand controls, safety interlocks and so on. The MSI 200 is modular and expandable to 140 safety modules or 44 drive components: Light curtains, E-STOP buttons, two-hand controls, interlocks and so on. MSI-FB interface modules enable the MSI 100 or 200 to transfer diagnostic data to the PLC across a variety of field buses. The safety controllers, each sized at 67.5mm wide, have LED indicators on all inputs and outputs.
