Servo2Go Adds Galil Motion Controller to its Range

Servo2Go.com has expanded its portfolio with Galil Motion Control's Econo Series CDS-3310 motion controller, which can accommodate electronic gearing or dual-loop applications. The CDS-3310 single-axis controller and drive system, which features Ethernet and an onboard servo drive, is designed to provide the high performance and precise control of a single brush or brushless servomotor. According to the company, it combines a programmable motion controller and a 500W drive in a single, compact package that eliminates the external wiring between the controller and the drive.

The CDS-3310 includes PID compensation with a notch filter and velocity/acceleration feed-forward, non-volatile program memory with multi-tasking, uncommitted digital and analogue input/output and advanced modes of motion such as electronic gearing and teach and playback. The product accepts differential encoder inputs up to 12MHz and provides dual encoder inputs that are designed to enable it to accommodate electronic gearing or dual-loop applications.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
