Spark Arrestors Prevent Diesel-Engine Fires

Chalwyn has developed spark arrestors to prevent the risk of fire from the ignition of flammable materials caused by spark emission from the exhausts of diesel engines. This risk can be so high that site access is often barred unless arrestors are fitted, and many countries have legislation to that effect. The danger is greatest where carbon can build up, and Chalwyn's centrifugal system spins live carbon particles in the exhaust gas at high velocity against the outer casing, retaining them until they are burnt and rendered inert.

Most Chalwyn units can replace existing silencers, maintaining sufficient noise attenuation for normal industrial use with no significant increase in back pressure. They may be fitted in series with a normal silencer where needed and can be used instead of a muffler in offshore and remote locations where less noise attenuation is acceptable.
