Chromalox Introduces 20 Series Panel Mounted Temperature Controllers

Chromalox, a leader in advanced thermal technologies, today announced the availability of the new 20 Series panel-mounted temperature controllers. These new controllers are truly user-friendly with impressively large and bright dual 4-digit LED displays, three output/event LED indicators, and three large tactile input buttons. They are ideal for tight spaces as they occupy only 2.6” (67mm) behind the panel. Controller design choices include 1/16 and 1/8 DIN sizes, two or three outputs (SSR Drive or Relay), Modbus RTU/RS485 digital communications, and standard or low supply voltages. 

Controller setup is simplified as these units are pre-programmed with the most common parameter value settings found in process heating applications.  Separate default setting profiles exist for both SSR drive control output and relay control output units. In most applications, the user simply enters the process temperature set-point value, and control of the process begins.

Configuration software for the 20 Series is available and may be downloaded from the Chromalox website at no-charge.  This software is an intuitive programming tool to aid users with controller setup such as tuning, communications and complete I/O configuration. It also facilitates the cloning of multiple controllers and fast parameter file uploads and downloads to and from the controller or computer. Each main menu screen has all applicable parameters logically arranged for efficient setting confirmation or change. The program features a six-step setup wizard which covers the most basic wiring, input type and programming requirements to assist the less experienced control users.

Additional safety and monitoring features of the 20 Series controllers include sensor break detection, Modbus RS485 communications and process, band, deviation, and loop alarms, which may either be latching or non-latching.  A three-year warranty is included and the controllers boast UL, cUL, and CE third-party certifications.

According to Scott Treser, Director of Controls and Panels, the Chromalox 20 Series panel-mounted temperature controllers are "a perfect process control solution for most thermal applications."  “Experienced operators will enjoy the simplicity and capability of the controllers, while the novice control users will appreciate the ease of commissioning their process due to the default setting profiles and the configuration software" says Treser.

The new Chromalox 20 series controllers are versatile and may be used in a wide variety of general heating/cooling processes.  They are particularly well-suited for use in: plastics and packaging equipment; food processing; life sciences equipment such as testing equipment, autoclaves and incubators; food and beverage equipment such as warming cabinets; general industrial equipment such as kilns and ovens.
