Stainless Steel Sensors For Automotive Companies

Sensor supplier IFM Electronic has launched the two-wire R series of stainless steel sensors aimed at automotive companies and their suppliers. With a solid steel sensing face, these devices will stand up to being struck thousands of times over. The R-series also has a coating that enables it to resist weld spatter adhesion in environments where welding is happening - droplets simply wipe off.

The devices are also designed with users of two-wire systems in mind, with M12 plugs pre-wired on 300mm cable for NPN or PNP systems. For users preferring something longer, open-ended cable versions are also supplied in 3m and 5m lengths. The cable itself adheres to the specification required for such tasks, being both tough and flexible.

Standard M12, M18 and M30 sizes are on offer. All designs are 40mm long to save space in the installation, yet give sensing ranges of 4, 6 and 12mm respectively even when embedded in steel. The green output LED is complemented by a second red LED that lights up when the target is in the last 20 per cent of the sensing zone.
